Elizabeth Casqueiro is a visual artist who explores the transformative place at the intersection of built environment, nature, and self.
Casqueiro’s art is heavily influenced by her background in architecture, her love of gardens, and her Portuguese roots. She is drawn to the geometry of the urban landscape, the flowing shapes of nature, and the rhythm of familiar patterns.
Casqueiro has shown her work in solo and group shows across the United States and Europe, including New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, UK, Portugal, and Italy. She is a recipient of multiple art awards from, among others, the London Art Biennale, DC Arts and Humanities, and the Maryland State Arts Council.
Casqueiro has degrees in architecture and design, and teaches at Georgetown University. Her prior career as an international corporate architect and global real estate manager introduced her to transformational places all around the world, from humble to magnificent. She has pursued art studies at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and the Washington Studio School. Her artwork is in private and corporate collections, including the World Bank.
