Oh, how I adore this piece! During the Spring /Summer of 2023 I created the Oxford Absract Series based on my life in Oxford, MD where I live part-time and from where I work at South Street Studio. This is my fancy way of saying that I'm proud of myself for creating a super cool art studio from my dilapidated backyard shed. Yep, I did it! But, I digress...The Oxford Abstract series came about after spending two years wandering around Oxford and other Eastern Shore towns and really noticing and loving the buildings, sheds, and watermen's cottages .Combined with my little obsession of scrolling through Instagram feeds of Scandinavian vloggers and my own Scandinavian background, I morphed my own experiences of what I had seen of Eastern Shore scenes and buildings with what I call "Scandinavian colors"-those bright reds, yellows and blues. "Oxford Boogie Woogie" is currently my fave among my paintings. I love the bold abstractness of the scene and bright colors and smeared violet. I also love the geometric weird shapes and the pale yellow sky. This painting vibrates and has a life of it's own.
