Artist Adam Himoff’s distinct style, which he terms “Linestyle,” arose from his early explorations in woodcut printmaking and uses lines as a central element. Himoff actively manipulates these lines and the juxtaposition of subject matter to delve into the complexities of the modern world. The resulting artwork presents a captivating paradox - a visual experience that excites and calms the mind as it unravels the works' multifaceted layers.
Born in New York City, Himoff studied visual art at The Art Students League of New York, Rhode Island School of Design, and Dartmouth College. Following a career in finance and entrepreneurship, he began his full-time career as a professional artist in 2022. He works across diverse media including painting, linocut printmaking, and sculpture. He lives in Park City, Utah.
Himoff's work is heavily influenced by New York's rich multiculturalism and the abundance of art that surrounded him during his childhood from graffiti to public works to museum masterworks.
“In my art practice, I breakdown familiar imagery and iconography and reconstruct it anew using the visual language of line abstraction in unexpected and stimulating ways to encourage powerful viewer reactions and provoke questions, reflections, and revelations”
"In my work, I experiment with variables that stretch between the abstract and representational and the organic and the geometric. I flirt with people’s perceptions of the human form, historical imagery, pop culture, and color, shape, and form."
