Both Diana and Ken were raised in the Midwest, where they absorbed the sort of “cabin aesthetic” that
encourages a close up view on the world. Over the years, home has included Naperville, Illinois;
Minnetonka, Minnesota; Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; the northern edge of Phoenix, Arizona and most
recently, Sauk City, Wisconsin. Wherever their lives and journeys lead, they always take time to
examine, learn about and enjoy the natural world around them. “Bead & Brush” is a celebration of that
world.
Kenneth Ferguson works in transparent and opaque watercolor (gouache) on 300lb watercolor paper.
All paintings are archivally varnished, which eliminates the need for glass. Diana creates her bead panels
using tiny glass cylinder beads, manufactured in Japan and known as Delicas. The beads are woven using
a needle and monofilament thread. Bead & Brush works also incorporate sun-washed Nepalese Lokta
paper and other handmade papers from around the world. They are framed in maple floater frames and
are ready to hang on the wall or display on any flat surface.
